“To sing is an expression of your being, a being which is becoming.”

-Maria Callas

Kylie picked up singing with my daughter Eliza from Year 7, and has expertly guided her through ABRSM Grades 2-8 Singing and up to ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory. Kylie is a wonderful and inspiring teacher, and as a direct result Eliza has built up the confidence to achieve distinctions in each of Grades 6, 7 and 8 Singing. Eliza will miss many amazing teachers as she leaves for University, and Kylie is at the very top of that list.

My Teaching Philosophy

My goal is to help every student discover their voice. I offer a holistic approach incorporating vocal technique to facilitate vocal ease while encouraging curiosity and self-discovery, all while having fun.

I believe that singing should be effortless, expressive, and full of joy. I teach students to be true to the music, text, and character. This honesty requires a courageous artist and a singer to connect their mind, body, and spirit with their voice.

My teaching keeps evolving, and I believe a teacher should always be learning new skills and keeping up to date with the latest research and professional development courses. This approach also ensures that teaching doesn't get stale and stays exciting. I make a point of learning new music, regularly attending shows, concerts, recitals, and masterclasses, and engaging in singing forums. Over the last year, I completed over 25 short singing courses online and in person and attended over 30 live performances in London.

I endeavour to make sure that every student takes something positive with them after a lesson with me, and I make sure that they have the focus to make the next steps after the lesson. After all, a teacher only does some of the work. I teach my students the tools to practice and become self-sufficient and confident singers/musicians.

My teaching doesn't come from one particular style or teaching method, instead I include a combination of approaches and I am adaptable to my students, after all, we are all unique.

Everyone has a voice, and I look forward to working with you to unlock your voice and aim to fulfill your full potential together.
